Spectron Lights in Octane Blender via proxies?

Since Octane Blender doesn’t currently offer the ability to add Quad or Sphere Spectron lights directly, I imported them as proxies from stand alone.

Just want to make sure this is a viable work flow so can the developers confirm for me that those ORBX proxies will still function as Spectron lights in Octane Blender (i.e. produce less noise than regular mesh emitters)?

You can use Blender's Area and Sphere light already, without any need for ORBX.

Ok thanks. So those do function and have the same benefits as the Spectron lights from stand alone?

Yes, if we're talking about the 2020 implementation.

Are there any benefits of using spectron lights? In standalone I've tested them on my test scene and there was no any speed or noise difference compared to mesh lights.

That sounds odd, since noise generated by spectron lights should definitely be way less than the one generated by mesh lights.

I've made a simple test in Blender and Spectron Lights are definitely less noisy than Mesh Lights.

100 samples in both cases.

Lino, have you tried more complex scenes?
Here is an example. Both with 1000 samples. Top render is with spectron, bottom with normal light:
