Quadra vs RTX GPU Cuda Performance Comparison

Gidday All,

I know you can also build a much faster desktop for less.... I am just interested....

I see some laptops have Quadra Max Q P5000 2560 Cuda Cores and 16 GB Ram

vs

Others have 2080 MaxQs 2944 Cuda Cores and 8 GB Ram

I know Octane loves Cuda cores but the Ram difference is very big for large architectural scenes that is pretty big... its 2 x 2080 MaxQs (Which don't exist in laptops)

Clock speed seems faster in Quadras too...

Does Octane prefer the RTX 2080 architecture vs Quadra Architecture (I am assuming they must be diff. might be a false assumption) in any way that (besides cost) makes one better for rendering speed?

Just wondering cause most reviews always compare gaming frame rates and I do not know if that equates to Octane rendering speed.

Thanks

Thanks

Hi peter,
unfortunately Quadro Max P5000 with Max-Q Design seems not present in OctaneBench:

But there is a Quadro RTX 5000 with Max-Q Design that scores ~165:

While RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design scores ~162:

and both have RTX acceleration, not yet measured in OctaneBench, while Quadro Max P5000 with Max-Q Design does not have RTX acceleration, so difficult to compare with RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design.

ciao Beppe
