my first interior with Octane

Hey guys, there's some render comparison going on in the Luxology (Modo) forum to compare render engine's.
I thought this gives me a good chance to test out Octane.
The model is made by J.O. Rust and isn't 100% to the photo but everyone has this problem :)
So I'm asking you guys for advice to beat all the other render engine's haha.

first picture is the photo:

second picture is my octane render

and if you want to have a look at the other tries:
http://forums.luxology.com/discussion/t ... 693&page=4
(It starts on page 5 because we from here we have the photo's provided)

Oh and my settings:

Octane 2.46b (I'll try the new release candidate next)
Pathtracing
exposure: 1
f stop: 2.4
ISO: 400
Gamma: 2.2
Kodachrome 200 CD (camera response)
vignette 0.3
saturation 1
hotpixel_removal 1 (didn't need it)

First of all, the floor in your render is too bright, secondly you should add a background to place outside the windows. Other than that I think it looks pretty good! I hope Octane will win  Good luck!

Oke.... I tweaked the settings a bit and I think it's getting better.
Here's one with some post work on it.
I used 2.48c and PMC for this one.

I just tweaked the settings a bit more and let it cook over night so tomorrow I'll have a better version.

If you have comments please post them.

Not sure what Sportler meant by the floor being too bright, it looks fine to me. The new render does look really good though and the floor looks pretty much as it did in the first renders.

thnx... my new render is almost done and I'll post it soon.
I think what he meant is that the colors didn't match in the first render. In PS I used the 'match color' option to match te color from the photo.

My new render which is rendering atm is rendered with Octane 2.48c PMC and daylight.
The background is added in post.
I asked here on the forum if it was possible to mix HDRI with sunlight and this is not possible atm.
The rendertime on my new render which I'll post soon is takes about 4 hours to be noise free @ 3024 x 2304
Not sure how long exactly because I was away for a couple of hours.

Hi thx for your reply remon,
well i'm asking for your lighting setup cause I tried (very briefly must say) this scene the other night and I got a hell of fireflies both in PT and PMC with daylight,
obviously I havn't had time to tweak materials at all so it might come from this lack of optimisation (I threw a few glossy for floor,, walls, etc and spec for the glass),
I used latest 2.48c

Oke.... I'm not really an Octane expert, but how long did you left it to render?
You got some fast GPU's so I guess it should be done in like 1 hour or 1,5 hours?
Did you use any bump?

Well gtx 580 are indeed fast, but they don't fix the fireflies issue!
that's actually the first image in PT that's intrigue me the most, did you render say at double size and then undersample it in Photoshop to get rid of fireflies, or did you render this image at this resolution fireflies free? cause you said you didn't have to use the hotpixel remover tools!
i'm not asking for normal sampling noise, just the fireflies, beacause even with the new PMC kernel,i I got hotpixels everywhere if I don't slide the hopixel remover down to 0!(with daylight ofcourse, other lighting setups work fireflies free)
how odd...
edit : and no there are no bumps at all for the quick test, only floor/wall/glass are glossy, rest is diffuse
