Fog Volume Voxel Size Crash

Hello,

Nice job with getting out the 2019.1.5 plugin.

I had a quick question, not sure if it's isolated to just me, but I'm getting full Cinema4D R21.115 crashes using Octane 2019.1.5 when playing around with Octane Volumes with a large voxel sizes (Editor) 500-1000.

I've attached a test scene that I am unable to open unless I remove the octane folder from my R21 plugins folder.

Don't know if it's just my setup? I'm on Studio Driver 441.28

Any help looking into this is appreciated.

Thanks!
Andy

Surely it will crash if you have a lot of voxels by out-of-memory. Why do you increase it? You can use 3d octane textures in medium to obtain volumetric patterns.

Hi Aoktar, thanks for looking into this.

I was under the impression I was increasing voxel size, which would decrease voxel count per the grid size. So it should be a smaller voxel count if I make the size 500-1000 and this is still crashing. I was following this tutorial to get large landscape fog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTTLaeJf6CQ at 28:57.

I could also be doing something incorrectly or misunderstanding but a scene I am currently working on did not crash with octane 2019.1.4 and will not open now in 2019.1.5.

Thanks,
Andy

It's old way to immitiate the detailed fogs. Do not increase voxel counts and try what I say for another method.

Take a look to my sample scene how I can generate very detailed clouds without much voxels
