Displacement mixer

Hi,

I tried to use the displacement mixer various times.

I assume it is simple to use, as no description in the manual.

I insert displacement nodes into the displacement mixer node-> mix material displacement input -> crashes every time.

Thanks!

So does it work? The new release seems to have problems with this feature.

No, it does not.

Not even when I follow the developer`s tutorial on youtube.

Also, I 've been told there is no bug with the C4D gradient. I did not use it in the last 2 week. This night I used the gradient first time and voila crash and bug report. But that`s alright. I just pay for something that does not work. Quite frankly it is ridiculous!

No surprise that many forums and tut sites are leaving Octane for redshift. I only use it in studios as I have no license, and never had crashes.

Oh, and I had to roll back a year old Nvidia driver to achieve some sort of stability with Octane.

I even recorded a video to show how the displacement mixer does not work and I got lectured from the developer that I should try to learn. The manual has gaps, wrong node naming references, but it is me who should learn.

I really have enough of troubleshooting!

Does the vertex map C4D node work in the displacement mixer for blending?

@Aoktar

I am sorry for the previous rant at some degree probably was unfair. So apologies!

It is obvious that you have a lot on you and it is great to see the improvements, but for years there are things that being mismanaged. The most obvious is the manual. Or this issue with the vertex node. I have a firm understanding of the principles and I do not think I need to read the manual when I want to mix materials with a vertex map, but I might have missed something. At the moment what I see, is that the Displacement mixer is far from finished.

When I hook up a texture to blend displacements, the blending slider is still there. Usually, when a texture takes control of the blending the sliders disappear. It is not the case at the Displacement mixer. Yes, the c4d gradient works for blending, but the vertex node does not at all. I tried to send it through the bake node, but nothing. From my point of view, this is not a bug. This is an early release, which leads me back to my point that things are being mismanaged. I am sorry to say, but I am not a tester of Otoy. I do not want to deal with things like this. I understand bugs and through the years I learnt to troubleshoot and solve problems (it is kind of the part of this of the job it seems). When it was obvious I reported the bug (not just here, other software).

I am hoping there is a solution to this matter and if I overlooked something, then my apologies. Point me in the right direction.

People are not aware of that I'm not support stuff and not a part of OTOY. Just doing out-source for c4d plugin. This is most important part for me! I'm always trying to fix/improve the stuff on my side. And there's not any other way to improve a software, you do same for Maxon or other companies: Reporting bugs and they fix. Every C4D builds have many fixes after these reports.

Other than this, after my test that displacement mixer seems like crashing on material previews. Probably it's what write in picture, not a c4d issue.

And last, which manual are you talking about? C4D manual is huge and most complete manual on Otoy universe. We try to add missing part when we finished new features.
