Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new OctaneRender™ for Maya® Version 2018.1
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2016.5, 2017, 2018 and 2019 64-bit on Windows, Linux and OSX operating systems.

To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 419.17 or higher and if you are working on Mac OS that have a CUDA driver installed that supports at least CUDA 9.1.

I've spent three hours working on a OrbxMaterial. Saved the scene, reopened it, and my OrbxMaterial settings are all gone. Blank.
I never used the OrbxMaterial before, but I ASSUMED it saves with the scene, am I wrong?

ORBX proxy or ORBX material modifications are only validated when you actually close the ORBX editor window, then you can save your scene.

That's dumb.

Well i can understand why it works this way,
but the problem is as usual with the Maya plugin :
no usefull UI feedback information for the user to actually understand what's happening underthehood,
+ no tooltips for Octane attributes in Maya UI + some cryptic setting names and arrangements ...

Actually the Maya plugin even manage to disable tooltips and shortcuts in the ORBX editor while it's a part of octane standalone UI . :(

Batch rending no longer outputs the render sampling progress. It seems to ignore the -smp flag.
/usr/autodesk/maya2019/bin/Render -r octane -smp 2200 ... P13268C_020_beautyA.ma

Previously...
Octane: layer "beauty" is translated.
Octane: frame 112: scene translated in 29:414 sec.
Octane: Rendered 1 samples out of 2200
Octane: Rendered 200 samples out of 2200
Octane: Rendered 500 samples out of 2200
Octane: Rendered 1000 samples out of 2200
Octane: Rendered 2200 samples out of 2200
Octane: frame 112: render is finished
Octane: saved tonemapped "OpenEXR" image to "/Bluearc/P13268C020_beautyA_v08.0112.exr"

Currently...
Octane: layer "beauty" is translated.
Octane: frame 112: scene translated in 29:414 sec.
Octane: Rendered 7 samples out of 7 #why is this 7?
Octane: frame 112: render is finished
Octane: saved tonemapped "OpenEXR" image to "/Bluearc/P13268C020_beautyA_v08.0112.exr"
