When it comes to the denoising phase for the new 3dsmax 6.01 plugin
the display goes blank and ı have to restart the computer. I have two 1080tis and latest drivers installed . I use both cards for gpu rendering and one of the two for denoising and tonemapping. I have no extra cards for display.

windows 10 64 bit
398.11 display driver
3dsmax 2018
octane render 4 xb3
plugin 3dsmax - 6.01
ram 16gb
2 1080tis msi

could you make a test setting your hadware as follows:

1_ 1080Ti:
active > yes
Priority > yes
Tone > yes
Denoise > no

2_ 1080Ti:
active > no
Priority > no
Tone > no
Denoise > yes
connect monitor/s here

Have you still crash?

can it be a power issue, or during denoising does the cards consume more power than usual rendering. Because when it starts denoising, it restarts the system or either display driver is reset. I do not have the same problem with other optix using renderers.

what about your Power supply, how many watts?

this was my office computer. And at home ı use two titan x maxwells with denoiser and it works like a charm.

if you did my test and the problem persists it could depend on power supply, check it.

(ı did the test for both cards and both of them worked as single denoisers.They worked as you have requested

Hello Paride, what is your theory about my work computer crashing during the denoiser phase. Last saturday with watery mouth ıI tried to render a scene which occupies 8gb of vram on 2560x1440 res. ıt crashed, later I learned from our ıt guy that power supply is shut and locked .My computer seems to have a power supply of 650 watts with two 1080tis attached. ıt has a 8 core amd fx processor with 32 gb of vram.It has an ssd and two normal harddrives. IIt may also be a heat problem, but ı think if it would be about system temp than it would randomly reset instead of the sarting of the denoiser pahse . if we can find a solution I would be grateful. Thanks in advance...

Hi mut_sert,
I suppose your issue depend on PSU:
2 x 1080TI > 500 watt
1 x cpu > +/- 125watt
crashes and reboots are possible when wattage peaks.
before purchasing a new PSU, try to removing 1 x 1080TI and test it.
