Hello
I have two object in my scene. Object A is a spline wrapped Type layer that is wrapping around Object B in a circular way. I need a matte of Object A that is gets obscured when it passes behind Object B but is normal the rest of the time. Is it possible to combine ID layers in this way?
Thanks for you help.
Monty

Hi MontyVFX,
as you described, it seems that you need to assign only an object tag to object A, change the object layer color, and use the object layer color.
If you need another mask for object B, you can add another Object tag, with different object layer color, to have it in the same pass.
Could you share some screenshots?

bepeg4d,
Thank you for chiming in. Its client sensitive, but attached are some screens to check out. I need to knockout the type behind him in the matte, but only the type behind him. Sometimes the type is in front and behind at the same time. That is where my problem is.
Object A:
Object B:
Thanks and Ciao!!!

Hi MontyVFX,
which way are you using to get your masks, Render layer masks, or object layer color?

Looks like I am using "Render Layer Masks" with separate IDs for the two objects.

Hi MontyVFX,
please, try with the Object layer color workflow, by using an Octane Object tag, and changing the color in the proper tag.
It’s much faster to calculate, and you should get what you need.

Yes this is what I needed. Downstream layering is now possible. And much faster rendering.
Many thank yous and grazie!
