strange performance issue

Hi,
again (every few month, Ahmet you know) I run into some problems with octane.

I pretty sure, that is has to do with materials/textures.
Let me try to explain: o.k. I've got a heavy scene.

After every little navigation in the viewport this green bar (Win 10 task bar)
runs from left to right for about 10 or more seconds.

During this time C4D totally hangs and I cannot do anything.
So after just a small rotation in the viewport I have to wait about 10 seconds to do
next operation.

As soon as I delete all materials, everything runs smooth again without any lags.

But what is causing these lags?

Do I have to change something in these settings? But what?
Everything I tried so far did not solve my problem.

Texturemanager gives no errors

Any idear?
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
what about the "farbverlauf" shader?
please replace it with an octane gradient node, and carefully check if there are not other c4d shaders.
In complex scenes, the auto baking option of c4d shaders can kill your workflow.

Hi Beppe,

indeed I had 2 C4D Gradients and a C4D Noise in the materials.
But this did not solve my problem! I still have the massive lags!

I also unchecked "enable C4D shaders", but without any luck!

O.K. I can start deleting one by one all my materials and hopefully
find the one which is causing this problem.

Any other idear?

Isn't there any general possibility to deaktivate the materials in octane,
which I can reenable before rendering?

regards
Mike

btw. I always use C4D gradients, because I'm unable to handle the octane gradient

Disable opengl and material preview to see how affects.

Hi Ahmet,

both are already disabled. No change!

It seams that I have no other chance, than to copy every single material
one by one to a new scene and wait until I found the one which makes the problems.
As said, as soon as I delete all materials everything works as it should.

Mike

Is this an old material from some older scenes?

not sure!
Maybe from some older objects. This could be.

Could i get a scene with just problematic materials? So i can see what's happening.

back on the PC again.
I'm still transfering materials one by one.

But what I noticed so far is the following:

When I try to save the scene with "save project all assets" the asset "Octane_Gear.png" is missing.
I cannot remember, that I ever loaded a png called "Octane_Gear" in one of my materials.

After ignoring this and saving the scene with all assets - C4D works fine again!

So this means that "only one" missing asset (whatever asset it is) kills the complete C4D Performance?
Is there a way to warn about missing assets without trying to save with this "save project with all assets"-option?
And from where comes this "Octane_Gear.png"?

regards
Mike

It may be a lag due searching the texture paths and sub folders.

It's not a thing that's up to plugins.

Don't know.
