Applying random color to generated structure

Hi guys,

I'm having trouble applying the random color node to generated geometry using sweep nurbs and a tracer.
Please have a look at the attached file.

I want to apply a different color for each generated "cable" but for some reason it wont work as it doesnt generate seperate "objects".
Any ideas?

Thx

Hi Jugro,
since the sweep nurbs is a single mesh, the Octane Random color cannot work.
You need also to have the Render Instance option active to make it works properly:

Is there a way to apply the random color to hair? I remember inlifethrill covering this in a tutorial, but I've followed his method and haven't been able to get it to work.

For reference, I'm trying to apply a random color gradient to the diffuse channel on x-particle trails using the octane object tag with render as hair checked.

I've checked the hair example scenes for version 3.0 and they all appear to use C4D materials to achieve color gradients. I'd prefer to do this with an octane material, if possible.

Use any textures in diffuse of Octane material. It will give colors by taking account from uv coordinates for per hair strands.
