Shadow look too spread and too intense

Hi,
I'm working on a tracking 3D test and I use only a sun Hdri in C4D and compose all in after effects.
the shadow projected on the floor disk with octane matte material doesn't show the shadow nicely.
even if i desactive the sun, a full shadow covers the round ground.
I try to adjust all the light parameters, change kernels but result is the same.
How can I have a natural shadow whitch can fit the round ground ?
thanks

niestudio, the link you provided is of an old version of Octane. I'm sure an experienced 3D artist with years of experience behind him can figure it out, but a new user/artist can't. Any tips on how to sort this out in Octane 3.0? Things seem to have been moved around a lot over the years.
OTOY, please provide updated tutorials to features. Please don't send me to the manual as it isn't all that clear either.

Hi RSgraphics,
the Render Layer workflow has not changed between v2 and v3. The only difference from the vieotutorial is that the Render pass tab is no longe in the Octane Settings, but only in Render Settings/Octanerender/Render pass tab.
Happy rendering,
ciao beppe

As Beppe said. Yes, things have moved, but the technique remains.
Here is a basic scene similar to yours that should get you going if you look at this while watching the tutorial.

Thank you, beppe and niestudio.
Yes, i'm aware that it moved, I'll do as niestudios suggests and try again with the help of his attachment.
Thanks again you guys.

Well, i downloaded the file and followed along again. It seems my render passes, Black Shadows, Colored Shadows, dont show any data. My reflection pass shows the reflection but its embedded into the ground plane.
