Shadow Pass

Hello,
I'm struggling to get a separate, isolated shadow pass out of OctaneBlender 3.05.3 (and SE, for that matter)
Could someone tell me if it's possible and, if so, how one would go about this? ...Or point me in the direction of a tutorial (There's lots of C4D tuts on the subject but nothing Blender that I can find).
Thanks in advance.

OK, managed it in SE using Object Layer Nodes in order to create Render Layer IDs... but I've no idea how this would translate to Blender.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Check the attached blend file, Its a simple cube as object and plane as the shadow catcher as well as the reflection catcher.
Just render the file and check the viewer output in the node editor.
I use fusion but any compositor will do.
The attached images show both the shadow and Reflection as well as the Z-Depth Pass in actual use in an ongoing project,
I hope that helps.

Hi RajivMudgal,
Thanks for the "blend" file.
By studying it I understand a very useful possibility for my work.
Learning how to get examples is very easy.
Thanks for sharing.

This works perfectly, Rajiv - thank you so much for taking the time.
[I've also updated to 11.24 from 11.21, as per your advice on DM, which solved the reflections problem]

So the basic shadow pass doesn't work in Blender? It seems to only give a white image. Shadowcatchers can't really be used in complex scenes...
Shadows pass renders nicely in the standalone, so I can always export orbx and render it there, but it would be nice to get this working in Blender too.

I have tried this Blend file, but I really don't get it

When I check the reflect viewer, i have the cube and it is black.
And I don't have reflection anywhere.
I was hoping that I would get the reflection from the cube.
(Blender 15.0 - 2.79)
How will this work exactly in a project - the shadow catcher is easy to use, but I need to create reflection

LayerReflections pass is what you need. It's on the right under "Layer" passes section.

I have tried everything(that I am able to)
I have also messed around with LayerReflections pass, but I don't know how to use it exactly.
An example/tutorial/Blend file - will be great to see how it works.
And furthermore Octane Blender is now changed, they removed (Blenders) Renderlayers in 15.1, so the above file from RajivMudgal is too old.

Developers listed some python code you can use to make Blender Render Layers visible again - see below link:

They said they would look into turning it back on in next release
