Hello, is there any source with good informarion about the use of the environment medium inside modo with Octane?
There are a lot of videos about creation of volumetric lights within C4d but I can't find any place with decent information about it with modo, or the use of Octane with Slik 2
Thank you in advance

The thread at
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=60148 provides some information on using the Environment Medium. The Environment Medium is a separate issue to SLIK lights (since they are geometry emitters). In general, the environment contains the "volume" rather than the light. Info on using SLIK lights with the Octane plugin is at
http://poserphysics.blogspot.com.au/201 ... slik2.html, however the very later test release (see the TEST thread) of the plugin will create area lights on the fly (rather than with the Create Octane Emitter command), so the info in that post may be out of date.

Ok Paul I get that we can create a Foggy scene using a médium with scattering and I understood how it Works, but, no matter how I tweak the values Im not abel to get volumetric lights ("God rays") showing, neither with a sun light nor with an area light entering by a window. It would be very nice if you set up a little scene (a box with a hole) and try to get it working and post it for us to study. I have been browsing all the net and I find lots of exemples for C4D but none for Modo, I tried also the technique using a "fog cube" you can see it here
https://youtu.be/LSIV6HVYdj8 but I'm not able to replicate thata perfect volumetric light inside Modo.

Hi. Perhaps these files can help a little bit, did also a lot of searching and watched some C4D videos for this! I also think you need a Octane override for it to work, and therefore it does not work with sunlight or area lights directly? Please let me know if there is a better way!

Niklas, thank you very very much for your files, finally I understood what was happening, I was using and area light, and they doesn´t create volumetric light.
Point lights and directional lights (Converted in sun on the environment) do.
Here 2 tests for the same file using both options and showing the volumetric lights
Thank you again, have been very helpful
