Assigning a material to some geometry objects fails (purple)

I'm hitting a weird issue with some geometry objects I've created by .obj files imported from AgiSoft PhotoScan: they remain purple when rendered in OctaneRender (i.e. assigning the material appears to be failing?). The same geometry (although it is not clean by any means, it is a really bad quality scan in fact with holes) does not appear to have any issue when rendering with Mantra.

You'll find an example .hiplc over here (the .obj file and the texture file are found in the same folder, as well as a Collada version of the same geometry that is not referenced in the Houdini file):

Hi,

To assign materials to objects from .obj files you need to use the Material SOP node. The .obj files are imported using geometry groups, that currently must be configured using the Material SOP in the Octane plugin.

Thanks for yet another super fast response. Is this documented someplace I've missed btw? Just wondering in case I should read some part of the manual for a few more of such noob questions.

Nope, I think that this workflow is not documented. Anyway, there are a lot of things to update in the docs related to the new 3.0 features, that I hope to add as soon as possible.

Thanks,
