Volume Medium Scattering multiple colors?

Is it possible to Scatter multiple colors in a Volume Medium? I thought using a multiple colored Volume Gradient in the Scattering slot might do it but nothing happened.
I don't want it to be emissive, just to scatter light pointed at the volume in a range of colors. Possible? If not, at some point? Thanks all.

Hi,
I don't know if it is what you want exactly, anyway, here is a volume colorful version with volume gradient in the absorption channel:

He's asking for smoke (density) shading I guess.

This will work. This is in the manual now that I see your example I'm reminded of that colored smoke plume in the Absorption Ramp section. Thanks! Molte grazie.
