hi
i'm trying to achieve a glassmaterial that looks like the one used in Peter Guthrie's illustration (attached).
i have tried all the glass materials from the livedb, but none of them has the fine reflections as Peters has.
it be caused by my settings - i use PT.
tips to improvements are very welcome
thanks

Hi Jorgensen,
you can try the fake falloff glass material from the live DB, or create something similar yourself. It is just a glossy material with a falloff map in the opacity channel.

Main principle in these scenarios if you fake it it wil not look like Peter's image. Think of that glass is a double/triple glazed window.
Do the model accordingly.
Then you'll have nice reflect and refractions. Do not rely on livedb materials most are not made by professionals.
Make inner glases as solid boxes with decent ior's .. Maybe forefront glass can have a little more reflection ior's
At the end of the day. it's not that glass material matters. Model of glass, environment(with light), inside of house light and model..
You make the environment best as you could then put the house with glass. Glass would do it's job.

As a starting point you can use a Specular Material with Fake Shadows enabled, and other than that use the default settings. This assumes the glass in your 3D model is double-sided. Then, how that glass looks will depend mostly on the environment and the geometry around the hut.
