W Coordinate Shader

Hello,
how can I use "W Coordinate" shader in materials. Can I use it similar to vertex map in C4D? May be I can use it to mix textures based on weights of vertexes.
Thanks..

Hi,
It's a shader to use with hair. For a gradient to the length of hair by sample.

If You want to use vertex maps, then probably the newest version will make You happy cause it supports them to some extent
Cheers

Is that the new as in test release? How does it work?

Available in latests versions. See release topics for that.
It's a gradient generator for hairs. It produces 0-1 values across by hair strands.

W coordinate works with render hair enable, but it doesn't with instance, even if the object has "octane object tag" on it.
Any tip?
Thanks

What are you doing exactly? It's designed just for hairs

I know, but you can render hair or take and object and use it as an instance. I need to color this, W Coordinate seems to work ok with hair but not with instances as hair.

Please someone help here. Or maybe Octane as I don't know if this is possible. We are talking about HAIR COLOUR IN OCTANE
1. If you want to add a gradient to each hair you must use W Coordinate node on Octane shader to work properly, and it works, so you can archive something as the grass photo in this thread.
2. However if we use INSTANCE on HAIR, (use any polygon we had made as a hair), W coordinate doesn't work. And it doesn't work either if we apply the texture on our polygon (the hair instance)
So, if the photo attached is HAIR with a hair instance, how can I give that yellow color on the end of the hair and white on root?
Thank you!!

How it can be a hair primitive if you use mesh for hair? As said that's just for hairs. Put your object here to get a quick support, I'm not support to spend my time for estimations. Thanks for understanding.
