Hi,
I am trying to get a normal map from Mari to Octane inside Modo to work. I must do somthing wrong and I cant find out how to make it work. Please help.
I em exporting a "height as normal" Normal Channel and Importing an UDIM in Modo/Octane, but does not happen anything?

Yes I am (is there another way of adding UDIMs?)

Hey Paul,
Octane doesn't currently support mixing any textures for normal maps,
I used a similar trick as you for UDIM with the Maya plugin,
but I eventually found out it can't work with normal map and displacement map.

So just to check if I have understood this correctly, UDIMs does not work if they are Normal maps?

What is not working pls? Can you give some details/screenshots of your setup and the problem? Is Modo rendering the normal map? Can you send me a sample scene showing the problem pls?
Octane doesn't currently support mixing any textures for normal maps,
It should - it's the mixing of maps for Displacement which does not currently work.

They should work.

Well I found that normal map pin in material nodes only support input from imageTexture node, so multiply node are not supported.
Also mutliplying imageTexture by pluging it in the power attribute of another ImageTexture node doesn't work either,
in the normal map case the power input is converted to greyscal...
And Roeland confirmed this in the topic of my Maya UDIM tool (link in my previous message):

But if you really found a way to mix normal map with Octane, I would be happy to know it

Are you sure that not because the normal map has RGB channels mapping to an XYZ vector? I'm not sure you could easily tweak a normal map to adjust it. What effect are you trying to get?

I can not get it to show anything, that's my problem. And I am unsure if I have done it correctly (the maps are made in MARI).

The normal maps look blank to me.
