Waiting for image problem

Hello,

Sometimes, after I start render, it gets stuck in 'waiting for image' stage. It happens in different model with different complexity. I even tried leaving the process over night, but it was still waiting for image.

Some tests and info about the problem.

-I tried to reduce image size. Lets say 3000*5000 image is stuck. I reduce it by %60 it renders. (but this is bad, since reduced size is not enough)
-Restarting computer helps to start the render.
-It is not RAM issue, because it happens similarly on computers with 32 gb and 16 gb.
-Models can be 100mb or 2gb, it still can happen in both cases. İe, it can render 2gb scene 4000*6000 with no problem, and sometimes it happens with a model of 100 mb..
-Sample number I use is 1000 to 5000 depending on the scene, but I also suffered this problem in scenes with 1000 samples...
-It happens on different computers.

Is this problem with server? Or maybe some messed up settings? Is there a limit for image size, if so what is it?

I posted this problem previously, but I didn't get helpfull response, sorry for the repetition.. I really need to hear some suggestions on this problem from advenced users or developpers, because I repetatively encounter this annoying
problem. I will share model samples if needed.

My system; 2x 980 ti, 32gb RAM, i7 5820k.

It looks like not enough GPU memory... Try to watch the GPU memory consumption by GPU-Z or similar utilities.
And always have a look at Blender's console for possible error messages if you are experiencing some issues...

Hi JimStar, thank you for reply.

I recreated this error and took screen shots for GPU-Z and Task manager to see Vram and RAM usages. They both dont hit the limit. In console there is also no problem. The scene is not very complicated, as you see in screenshot, using only Octane environment, no HDRI. Image size is 2500*5000 with %200, so in total 10 000 * 5000. This time I exaggerated image size to recreate the problem, but ususally it happens even with sizes like 3000*6000.

So is there an output size limit, or is it some other problem?

What version of the plugin do you use?

I use v2. I soon will switch to v3, to see if it happens there also.

So as long as RAM and Vram is enough, there is no limit to image size right?

In your case - VRAM is not enough. You don't see it fully consumed on GPU-Z because the render-engine fails being not able to allocate all the needed memory for a film buffer.
V3 uses system RAM for a film buffer, only postprocessing buffers are on GPU. So, you should have much less problems with high res renders in V3.
