Crash on Render

So I went and downloaded the demo of octane hoping to buy soon, but when I installed CUDA 3.0 it said it was not installed and failed to open at all. Just to see what would happen, I downloaded and installed CUDA 3.2 and this time octane opens but when I add an .obj node and click to render, it crashes instantly with no render report or anything.

I am fairly new to the graphics cards and stuff but I have a GeForce 9400 and I took a screenshot of the device manager just in case it would help (I noticed it thinks cuda 3.0 is installed while its not btw)

If you on windows you don“t need cuda toolkit, only the latest driver for your GeForce 9400.
Crash during add an .obj node and click to render is often an incorrect .obj file.
Try the files from the demo suite:
http://www.refractivesoftware.com/downl ... oSuite.zip

Have a look to the manual for correct export settings for different 3d software:
http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... =21&t=4071

It is for 2.3 but fits with the demo version in most cases.

Cheers, mib

try to install only the cuda 3.0 toolkit, unfortunately the demo is not build for cuda 3.2 :(
anyway don't expect to much with only 16 cuda cores and only one card for both display and octane

We have a Mac mini here with exactly that graphics card, so you should be able to run Octane on it. But first, be warned: Octane runs really slow on it, because this GPU is very very old.

To test the demo version, please install:

- the CUDA 3.0 toolkit, which you can get from here: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cuda ... loads.html
- the CUDA driver 3.0.14: http://developer.download.nvidia.com/co ... _macos.dmg

The CUDA driver 3.0.14 very likely won't work (at least it didn't here). If that's the case, please install the CUDA driver 3.2.17: http://www.nvidia.com/object/macosx-cud ... river.html

Don't change the CUDA toolkit, the demo version needs CUDA toolkit 3.0.

Cheers,
Marcus
