Falloff from top to bottom?? (Like snow/rain on surface)

I try to do a falloff material which has 100% opacity on the top and 0% on the bottom depending on the surface.
Like rain on a stone which looks wet on the top and dry on teh side or snow on the top and dry on the side.

Ideas?

Maybe an OctaneDirtTexture with "invert normal" and used as a mask in a mix material, could help.

Hi,

The suggestion by @Calus would be a good start.

I'll give this a look through as soon as possible, and get back to you. If you can provide the scene itself so I can test directly, that would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Azen

Thanks! It looks good indeed. :)

I try nothing special or critical. Just a generic and versatile solution for Z-Falloff which works in animations too. Like snow on rocks or trees, rain/wet surfaces and sea foam which appears on to of the waves. For the waves it would need some foam too at the spot where the object meets the water surface.

yeah this feature is really sorely missed.
max falloff map although old, is very useful.

a falloff directed by an object would be awesome to have too.

hope you will consider it.
