Render 32bit alongside 8bit

I really like the Octane camera settings like highlight compression etc. and so I quite ofter render out as 8bit files in targa.

However, occasionally, I wish I'd rendered out a 32 bit file, as I am needing to pull the colour etc. around more.

Is there a way to render out the 8bit file including highlight compression etc. but at the same time output a 32bit file, just incase I need to pull around colour etc. or make more involved changes?

Cheers

well, for still frame you can just export your scene to standalone and save your render as png 8bpc and untonemapped EXR.

I don't think it's possible in Maya without rendering twice.

But exporting to standalone works smoothly now.

Cool, thanks for the info.

How are you sending the data (which file format are you using) from Maya to Octane?

I export as"OctaneRender Animated Scene" as I mostly render animations, but for still image just export as "OctaneRender scene".

Just tested and works great, cheers.

Quick request to the developers, though. Can we have a 16bit png (or similar) or half float output option from inside Maya.

Cheers again.

You can choose to render in half float 16 bit In Maya if you render "composite EXR" (=multichannel EXR ) , still linear and a lot smaller file size.

(well, as usual to output EXR, you have to use the Octane for Maya freaky way  , select IFF16 or TIFF16 in the "image format")

Cool, cheers.

Would be nice to have a 16bit tonemapped png too :D
