Render region - how doe's it work?

Hi,
I rendered an image over 2 hours and finally I found one material needs to be adjusted. I enabled render region and draw a rectangle and ... the whole image is rendered again. What did I wrong?
Ciao,
Micha

Hi Micha - Render region is not working in Octane 3 at the moment - but is something Otoy hope to have working again shortly. You will need to use the Octane 2.25 version if you want to use Render Region currently.

Found a workaround - I create mesh sphere with a medium polycount around the camera and extract the mesh faces to get a few to my wanted region. I assigned a black diffuse material. So I get black render and only where I deleted the polygons I get my rendering back. Using it to rerender a wrong material of a little scene part.

The bug Misha reported is an issue I get in Octane 2.25 too. I've had this for at least a few months now, I use 3DS Max 2014. In the standalone application I have not been able to repro this.
As soon as you change a material property, when you unpause the render everything will be re-rendered for a short time, and then only the region. It should not re-render the whole image, only the region.

Hi Phil - is this a problem in the Rhino plugin, or the 3ds Max plugin? If it's the later, you will need to report it in the 3ds max forum.
Thanks
