hello

I'm sorry for my bad English I go through the translation french to english of google!

I often work on visual 7230 X 5428 pixel with C4D.

Octane can go resolutions like this 7230 X 5428 pixel ?

what hardware configuration you can advise me?

Hi,

the licensed version of Octane can go up to 8192x8192. You of course must have enough VRAM to handle that (my GTX295 is not capable of it for instance).

Well, the answer is yes and no: Theoretically you could make the image of size 8096x8096 pixels. But you will run out of memory before you get to those sizes. For your resolution the filmbuffer alone (incl. the display buffer) would be ~780MB. Then there is geometry, textures and other stuff that has to fit on the graphics card, too. -> For those resolutions a graphics card with at least 2GB memory is highly recommended.

But there is another option: I'm currently working on the next version of the C4D exporter plugin (should be available next week). The latest version of Octane supports now lens shift (or "film offset" in C4D-speak). Together with the tiled camera expression you can then render the image in tiles, which will reduces the needed film buffer size accordingly.

I have also heard that a large scene could be rendered out in pieces by using the new lens shift feature, but I haven't tried it. (See here for more info: http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... 60&start=0)

You will need a top of the line, very fast video card with lots of memory. Something like the upcoming NVIDIA GTX 580 3GB (see here: http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... =25&t=5060)

This expression is very old. You will find the current version in the Content Browser under Presets -> CINEMA 4D -> Expressions -> Tiles Camera. I made it, when I was still working at MAXON :)

BUT, all these expressions do NOT stitch the images together. You have to do it yourself. It should take you less than a minute for a 2x2 tile setup. The task they actually do, is recalculating the field of view of the camera and setting the film offset for each frame of the animation.
