light shadow from light shape

is there a way to get the light to not cast a shadow from itself? i checked "shape cast shadow" option in the light properties, and nothing happens. You can clearly see the shadow shape on the ceiling in the image. light is pointed down. I also have visibility to camera turned off.

If I understood you correctly, this is easy: Just in Light properties, set Shape Opacity to 0%
That way light works normally but is not visible as an object in the scene

No problem, it is very different solution from std LW so it's easy to miss
