Crazy render work!

Hi!

I did a massively 7200x4500 render with 6.5k displacements and 3.8m triangles.. Didn't do colour correction. It's a raw. I used up my 4GB VRAM by 92% .. with only 300mb headroom. 10 hours of baking time.. Reaching 1100 samples. Reason of slow reader: subsurface scattering & displacement

Threw in so much as I could without triggering out-of-core memory. It was a great practice to understand what resize option I should give for each texture (D/B/SP/OP).

I'm uploading scaled version of 1024x640 (OTOY forum won't let me upload big stuff).

Kibby

There are 23 figures in the scene. One of them is an easter egg from a movie.

;)

wow, impressive :o
I would like to see also the high res version, with so many details it will a pleasure to look at :)
I think I have found all the 23 guys, but I am not sure in who is the easter egg... the guy with just one eye?

Pardon the watermark. You never know what they'll do with it.. (i.e.: make profit out of my hard work)..

What do you think? :)

Scratch that, I realize DAZ3D.COM forum is the one with restriction not this forum. Awesome! Here's the full resolution!

wow,great, thanks for sharing :D
I wonder if the transmission on the leaves is not too dark

Good catch! Totally forgot about those leaves' materials. If I were to add transmission, I wonder how much further it will slow down the render. I got around 0.98/spm with GTX 980.

I guess displacement and scattering were taking toll on the performance.

I'm impressed with OCDS plug-in's auto materials. I left everything untouched for the enchanted forest except river water. Used one provided in OTOY online library.

I discovered a bug.. I'm not sure if the bug is known. I think UV mapping will be lost if resizing texture for bump mapping beyond 1/2 setting (1/3, 1/4 and forth). They happen on Genesis figures. Can you confirm?

when resizing textures, my UV did not break. However I have not used it extensively since 2.x allows for OOC memory, so Vram is no concern really.

Crazy image :)

I've used a lot of 1/4 scale textures and have had no problems with the UVs.

Thanks DrHemulen!

Not sure how it happens for me for UV mapping to be an issue.

I try to steer clear of OOC so I could have more 'raw' power. How much is a performance penalty when access to OOC memory?
