Stencil to Alpha After OO (Octane Override) broke?

Hey guys,
When I use stencil in modo the plugin does a great job of converting that stencil to the opacity channel when I convert to a OO. But it puts the image I am using as an Alpha Image. Then it doesn't work. So then all I do is delete the Alpha Image, Create an RGB image and reassign it and it works.
Is this something on my end that I am doing wrong to constitute it as an "Alpha Image"? It seems like it is completely unnecessary when RGB works every time.
I am using 801 plugin OctaneRender 2.23.2 (2230002)
Thanks

What do you have the Alpha Channel set to in the Texture Locator?
I am just looking at the release notes when this functionality was added....
1.52.0.60
- Added support for Stencil maps with Alpha Channel set to Alpha Only (which will result in an Octane Alpha Image being created)

Bam got it working. I was using a JPEG. I had to use a png and delete the background so it was transparent in photoshop.
But when I do a OO and I use an rgb image it works with the black and white image...

I can't see any obvious difference between the on-the-fly conversion and the Octane Override for Stencils. If you have a simple sample scene which shows this - can you send it to me pls? There might be something simple I am missing...

Well I got it working. I think it was because when I saved a black and white image as a jpeg it didn't have a correct alpha channel, like when I save a png with a transparent background.
About the conversions though. Is there a list somewhere of what convert and what doesn't . I will check over the docs in a minute. I almost always just start out with an octane override. But would sure be nice to just use conversions so it is easier to transfer materials between scenes.
Thanks paul
