I'm not seeing any options for Ambient Occlusion when using path tracing. Is it possible to have both?

Yes. But you have to use render passes with AO pass.

Is there a way to do so and see the results in the live viewer window?

Path Tracing is much better than AO, but if you still want AO, you can add it as a texture on the object.

Bake the AO as a texture (not yet in Octane, but most 3D apps support this) and then apply it to the object. Or as Chris says, use the Dirt texture. :)
