Octane Hardware Upgrade recommendation with 1200 bucks

I have a Nvidia GTX 660 with 2gb VRAM and a motherboard that supports two video cards. Would the best bet for increasing Octane performance be to buy, say, a Nvidial GTX Titan like this one? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... _-Product). I'd use the Titan to render. Would that be one of the best ways to straight-up and simply make my Octane rendering pretty nice and fast?

Or how else should I spend a budget of 1200 dollars, and would that be "sufficient" to be happy with it's rendering speeds (subjectively speaking, I realize). I'm mainly a Motion Graphics and Video Editor moving more and more into 3D motion graphics. Thanks!

hi tehre! =)

well, that's a budget to get soem of the piece around for sure. You have several options:

TitanX is one of the best one - 12GB of vRAM will give You lot's of freedom & You probably would be using this card for quite a while. Speed wise it gives around 125 in terms of OctaneBech.

if 12GB is bit too much, You can get TitanZ (should be hard to find for that proce, but it's doable). this will give You ~180 in terms of OctaneBench, but it's 12GB of vRAM is splitt by to GPUs - so effectivelly You get 6GB to be seen for OctaneRende.
(keep in mind that this card requires tripple slot spacing & two 8pin power conectors)

another option is to get something like 780 6GB - probably still offering the best value, speed & vram wise. These are out of production, so You will be happy if You manage to find one. Some users manage to get those around ~400$ =) You can't beet the value it gives..

feel free to ask any questions if You still have. Also leverage OctaneBench to see how cards perform in OctaneRender. & yeah, keep Your old card for powering screen(s) - this will give You way better more fluid ui =)

Very cool, thanks for the reply Glimpse, super helpful. Is there a place I can compare different hardware setups, and see what kind of speed they are getting from OctaneBench?
