Problems with different series GPU

Hi!
I know about 2 accidents when GPU or motherboard burnout with Octane render. In all cases - there was GPU from different series. In first case - Titan Z + GTX 680 (motherboard burnout) and second GTX 680 and GTX 980 (680 burnout).
As I know - there was right choise of PSU and all other components.
anyone else has this problem?
I'm asking about this because now I'm testing quadro 4000k + 560ti and afraid about burnout.

No problems here.. and I ran three differnet series for a little while (580,780Ti and Titan Z)

I'm pretty confident it has nothing to do with different cards.. =) but it would be nice case if You can base that on any facts. I believe majority of users here have mixed cards in their setups =)

True...this is problem with small case + high end GPU, U need more breathing space for high end GPUs.
Me too facing the same problem as my GTX 660 temp is 98cel at heavy load and i also worried about the same...as glimpse and smicha suggestion, changing the case right away as don't want them to burn themselves..

try to arange them so non reference design coolers would not face backplate from another card. At all, it's better get cards without any backplates, as more breathing room do makes a difference. On my first rig pair of 460 with non reference design coolers run around 75 with gap..close to each other nearlly 100C (they did not have Boost2 implimented & thus stayed running the same clock)..-more than 20C diff for the gap alone. In new cards (Kepler/maxwell architeture) You will get probably 80-85, but start loosing performance..
