Illuminated Screen w Image - How??

So we have all kinds of screens in our scenes. LED, Projection, Computer Monitors etc..

I'm not finding a good way to illuminate the screen texture so it looks "on". In LW Native I would turn up the Luminosity and turn down the Diffuse.

If I add an Emission node it just seems to take over, or wash out the texture.

Anyone help point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I think that the key is set the diffuse material to black, and enable the "Surface brightness" parameter in the texture emission node. Set power to 1 and you get this image with a default render target.

I'll give that a try. Hoping I can get this to add light to the scene how ever little it may be. Thanks.

Definitely possible 8-)

Follow juanjgon's node setup, keeping a couple things in mind-- depending on your scene exposure settings, you may have to increase the power in the emission node until you see the effect. As a point of reference, I try to keep my values near their IRL wattage equivalents (...But I have no idea if this is a proper workflow or not... I've only been using Octane for a couple weeks!)

Also, keep in mind that that to get a noticeable light source effect, your screen will probably start to look blown-out, just like in real life photography. If this isn't desired for aesthetic reasons, you can always render to full hdri and use mattes to bring the exposure back down in post.

Here's an example of an image as the only light source:

Thank you for the input. Exactly the look I'm wanting to get. Now I know it's possible!

Just add the image power, 1.0 is not the limit :)
On the other hand Octane does it physically correctly so in real life if you have say LCD screen in bright sunlight, it does not light up anything but when you close the curtains etc., it starts to do so. So if you need that actually unrealistic effect, then just ramp up the power to something crazy like 1000 or more until you get the effect but then it is not realistic anymore :)
