Water texture

Hello,

in cinema 4d is easy to emulate water using displacement map with some noise or water surface. It animates the water without animating polygons.

is it possible to do this with octane?

I'm trying to use turbulence octane and native nodes of cinema 4d, but I can't see the animation.

Thanks

Displacement is limited with just images. You can't use any procedural textures. But plugin can convert the c4d's shaders to images. So it works, but will cause a tiling problem. Because each shader is baked as a image and will not be seamless.

Thanks for the fast answer.

So what would be the best way to make some water surface animation?

I'm trying to use turbulence of octane and noise native nodes of c4d in the bump channel and again I can't see animation.

I depends to how much big area is required. If it's small part so you can use c4d's shaders. Also see this old samples, may helps a litte bit

Many thanks, so clear now.

Cheers!

why limited to images?

Here I use a simple C4D water shader.
C4D noise works as well.

Octane converts C4D shaders into image textures
