Hello, im trying to use previously baked Disp/Norm maps on objects (sculpted to low-res) and have not been able to come up with a solution so far. Please help
Yeah i sculpted with cinema than used "Bake Sculpt Object"
1 - hi-res sculpt
2 - low-res object
3 - new low res object with c4d materials (normal + disp) created after "Bake Sculpt Object"
4 - low-res object with displacement map mapped to octane material
5 - low-res object with normal map mapped to octane material
As you can see object is UVed.
Please help :'<

There are different types of displacement.
You'll need to bake with displacement method 'Intensity' or 'Intensity Centred' which are greyscale height-maps that you can use in Octane.
For good results, I would bake your displacement at 16bit of 32bit (you can use Open EXR 32bit with 16bit compression to keep file-size down).
Depending how close it will be to camera, you should think about higher res than 1024*1024.You may want to try with 'round geometry' checked & un-checked to see which Octane likes better.
As for normal maps, I think Cinema bakes slightly 'special' normal maps itself, although it can happily render normal maps made with any package.
You might have to try 'Tangent' & 'Object'.
Have a read of the Cinema 4D help on all these baking options, there is quite a lot of info in there.

nope, sadly i think we'll need to wait for octane 3 to get displacement finally working as intended.

I am running into the same problem, I sculpted in c4d and once I bake displacement, normals and ao, it blows up the model when I render it using octane. Works fine in c4d native render. Please help

Thank you for your help, but it doesnt solve the problem. Why is the displacement map ripping the model?

Hi agkaimal,
make sure that there aren't any overlapping uvs and try to bake at a higher target level, like 2 or 3.
Could you share also a screenshot of your octane displacement settings?

As you can clearly see there are no overlapping uv. and the mesh is subdivided to the level where its rigging / animator friendly. I get perfect results in without octane. Its a pain in the butt to even upload an image here. As you wanted how do I share my file to you privately. I dont have anyones personal emails. Sorry if I sound grumpy, its frustrating when all demos are done using primitives or scanned highres models. I bought octane because I want to do character animation faster than before. I dont understand why uv seams show up when they are unwrapped, sculpted and painted in c4d the professional way. There are no issues in regular c4d. There is another problem with the Live DB. As you are already aware it crashes when I click download. I have a brand new $1500 windows pc with good internet connection and nvidia 1080 graphic card. I am disappointed with rookie problems that that stops you from moving forward. I spend 600 on octane thinking i will get thing done faster but I havent made a dime.
