Portal shader , are you fonctionnal in 3ds ?

Hi

i have a strange probleme with portal :
i put a portal shader on a simple polygone , normal in scene direction , in path tracing engine
but that not work , i dont have more light , and my poly cast a shadow ...why ?
i have certainly miss something , but i dont understand how they work ,and why that not work .
please if somebody can help me ( process or sample scene) , that could be really cool .

i use the 2.13 in max 2013 / 2015 , with 3 x 780gtx

its for an interior rendering

thanks Profbetis for your help ,i have founded this post by the past , but another read make me change some geometries positions , this solve the problemes. year !
i have 2 big curved windows, my portal dont cover the windows in all conditions , i need to update is transformation parameters .
