OctaneRender for Carrara 2.06.0048 [Test]

WARNING: This version has had limited testing. Use at you own risk.
This update contains a single fix for an issue where animations do not always update in the ORVP. This should fix an issue with a door reported by SciFiFunk and a Physics simulation reported by orion_uk and others.
Note that this 'fix' removes an optimization that tested to see if an object was animated before processing it. Since this optimization has been removed it is up to you to unset the Animated flag on static instances. Unsetting this flag MAY speed up the processing time between frames.

- Unset Animated on Static instances.
- UnSetAnimated.png (26.85 KiB) Viewed 5812 times
Also note that the installer no longer prompts you for the Install directory (as it was not working anyway). It is up to you to check that the install path is correct for your Carrara installation. (I hope to completely replace the InstallShield installer with WiX at some point in the near future.)

Brilliant!
Thank you so much for a quick turnaround on this essential fix. I'll test it ASAP after lunch. Currently munching away right now.

Sighman,
I am running that same door scene now. I am trusting that the fix works, so rendering out at "full" quality. A paltry 240 [EDIT 300] samples is enough for this test animation. It won't be long until it gets to the door opening then.
One thing I did notice is that the initial start up time (for the first frame) is longer. I am yet to test "unanimating" by unticking that box to see what a difference this makes on static items.
I guess I'll need a few tests before I am totally sure. It wasn't always failing on the previous version [0047]. The door opens a couple of times in the animation, so at least 2 tests then.
This little effort is to get me going, after that a larger scene (a space shuttle) will be animated. (Have to complete the modelling first).

Worked on the first test. Thanks.

2nd test.
Problem. I kept Carrara open after that first multiframe render. I opened a new scene, which is the same scene but with different animation. I set up my render settings again, started the animation.
After the first frame (which was fine), the second and subsequent frames didn't render. In Carrara I can see the animation frame advancing. It was writing the frame out with the new frame number, but the contents was always the first frame.
I came out of Carrara completely, came in again and all was fine. I conclude the original problem still persists, at least from a user point of view. I can't be sure if it's going to animate correctly.
NB This animation was just a camera pan moving downwards.

Something interesting, since this last update, whenever I click the "Open Settings window" option an image file open dialog box pops up; once I close the dialog box the setting window pops up.
Anyone else having this issue. It just started with this release.

Orion has reported this a couple of times, I have not been able to reproduce it. It is good that others are now repeating it so I can mark it as a confirmed issue.
