hi. i just contacted my favourite renderfarm and asked if they are going to update their amazing cpu-service with gpus and if there will be octane-support soon. the shocking responde said, that otoy apparently forbidds renderfarms any use of octane. is this true!? please tell me this is a huge missunderstandig! the disappointement would be big.

there will be only Otoy render-farm then?

OTOY is comming with a renderfarm solution that will be "nicelly integrated". I assume they headed for this, because to give the best experience You need to control all stages. The solution is yet to be released, but at least from what we know so far it will be simple & more affordable, compared to a any CPU renderfarm. So let's wait & see!

as i am an octane for c4d user. will there be also be full plugin support? any informations?

but anyhow. not to allow the use on all the other farms doesnt seem right to me. i was never a fan of monopoly positions of any kind. also if they just want the best for me.

Otoy has the right to control the destiny of their company and products. Please note there are other GPU renderers out their and they can offer it as render farms if they like free of any control of Otoy so it is not a monopoly.

Looking into licensing Octane to 3rd party renderfarms will have to wait until after we launch the Octane Cloud service. At that point there will be a clearer set of requirements for vendors to help us expand this platform.
