hi. i just contacted my favourite renderfarm and asked if they are going to update their amazing cpu-service with gpus and if there will be octane-support soon. the shocking responde said, that otoy apparently forbidds renderfarms any use of octane. is this true!? please tell me this is a huge missunderstandig! the disappointement would be big.

You cannot use the consumer version for a remdefarm service. You need a different license, which hasn't been offered widely - yet.

You need a commercial reseller agreement from us if you want to sell Octane (as an app, or a render service). We provide that on a case by case basis.

The cloud render service for Octane is going to be tightly integrated into the SE and plug-ins and even the OTOY web site and these forums. The ORBX packaging system we added in 1.5 is a first step towards a common interchange format, that all plug-ins. can use There is a lot more we're building on the other end, which you will start seeing shortly.

We're also working closely with Amazon on scale, pricing and more to make GPU render time as affordable as possible.

If a 3rd party wants to build a render service around Octane, it will need to factor in all of the above.
