Round edges smoothing issues

I get smoothing erros with very basic geometry.
See attachment in the window frame. I used smallest value in materials.
Do I need something to keep in mind with building geometry? I thought round edges will work the way I only do basic geometry and it should look right.

hi mbetke.
usualy for me a value of 0.002 is working well, if you can't go lower than 0.01 then you need to increase the precision to be able to input 3 decimals from max settings.
hope this helps.

What unit setup are you using? Is the mesh scaled correctly?

You are not the only one seeing this issue. So far all my tests with rounded edges show similar artefacts even after screwing with smoothing groups. At first I wasn't sure if it was simply a limitation of the technique used which meant that you just have to make the bevel as small as possible to minimise the problem.
But looking at this video I suspect actually it's a bug in the 3dsmax plugin:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RbvHBFQHAA
In that video the bevels get quite thick with no similar issues appearing.
I need to take a moment to take the same geometry from 3dsmax into the standalone to see if this problem disappears...

I set up units properly. Was the first thing I checked.

it would be nice if the rounded edge value would be in a reasonable range.
(system units in mm, generic units).
if i try to realize a 0.3mm fillet i have to set it 0,0003 or something in that range.
not very nice to adjust.

rounded edges work like a bump. you can't change you geometry. It is designed to simulate very small fillet. We will try to improve the accuracy.
