Mismatch error

OK - what can I do when I get a message like this:
[object] has a mismatch between vertices and textures and it will not be loaded into the Octane scene
Strangely enough there are no textures assigned to that object, only colors.

Export/import didn't seem to help, as didn't re-saving with UV-mapper.

help, plz?

This errors shows when you prop/figure has SOME texture UV's, however the number of UV's does not match the number of vertices (so the plugin does not know which UV goes with which vertex). In general, the prop's I've seen with this problem have MORE UV's than less, and in some cases the creator of the prop has subd's the UV's but not the vertices. Other times the prop has been partially UV mapped (because some of the polygons are clear/glass). Usually exporting and reimporting as 3ds format will fix it.

Well, export/import as 3DS did help - sort of.
I get the thing loaded into the viewport but it seems, some of the material zones are broken.
As you can see, I can adjust the metal and canopy material, but the two others are, well, disobliging. :(
Even worse, the thing is a full rigged Poser figure, so I'd like to fix the original, if possible.
I tried assigning new UV-maps with UV-mapper to the original OBJ, but that didn't seem to help.
Do you have a hint, what else I could try? I have hexagon and modo, if need would be...

I'm not complaining about freebies - but some are really annoying.

Unfortunately the mesh is broken, and in this situation your on course of action if to load the whole thing into a modelling app and re-UV map the object - taking care to not re-order the vertices, so the rigging info in Poser is not broken.

Will try that then.
thanks, Paul.

As Paul says, re-UV map the object in a 3D app - or in Poser.
In Poser use the grouping tool. Assign new material (pick the polygons to assign the new material), and then use (Create Perspective UVs) to project the new UV map to the assigned material.
The projected texture size/scale (if you want to use textures) is decided by the camera distance to the object.

Thanks for the tip, although Poser's grouping tool is quite a p*** :D
I guess, I would have to declare new material zones (in what app ever), too?
