Hi Face_Off
Silly question
Will Revit Plugin ver1.2 still work once I install 1.5??
Also do I need to install Octane stand Alone as well if I am only using the revit plugin?
Last question, do you know how far is Octane Cloud render plugin for Revit
Sorry for all these silly ones mate.
cheers

Not sure of what you are installing of version 1.5. If you install the plugin version 1.5 over the plugin version 1.2, you will get the plugin running in Revit at version 1.5. 1.2 will no longer be installed. Scenes saved with plugin version 1.5 will not load in plugin version 1.2.
Also do I need to install Octane stand Alone as well if I am only using the revit plugin?
Whilst it is not mandatory, it is a good idea to update Octane Standalone to 1.5 if you are updating the plugin to 1.5.
do you know how far is Octane Cloud render plugin for Revit
There are a few ways to do this - but in summary, load your scene into the Revit plugin, start rendering, then "Export Scene to OCS". The next version will allow you to save as ORBX (rather than OCS), which you should do - the exported ORBX file can be uploaded to an Octane Amazon Cloud AMI instance - where you can render it. If you want to try this, let me know and I'll add the ORBX export option to the plugin for you to try.

Yes.

http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=37775 contains the majority of changes. In summary, new projection nodes (awesome for Revit materials where you cannot re-UV meshes), better error logging, more user friendly node names, export to Standalone (via OCS or ORBX), checking for missing texturemaps,
many other minor Octane 1.5 specific changes.
Camera motion blur and export to ORBX (cloud render format) should be in the next release.

Woot! looking forward to motion blur - while I still do most of my projects in Revit (just playing with Rhino & doing my landscape plans in it till I get my head around it enough to use in production)*
*that said; the materials in Rhino are a dream compared to Revit...

Does the plugin work with Design Options? I'm seeing the wrong geometry show up in the Octane window when I try to render design options.
Here's the scenario - a single model for concept design, multiple design options for alternative lobby treatments. I want to render out a view of each option...it doesn't seem to work correctly.

HI Tim. The Revit 2012/13 version of the plugin convert the raw Revit scene items to geometry as best it can. It's possible that the Design Options are not converting to geometry correctly (and I don't recall that being tested during the closed beta stage). The Revit 2014 version of the plugin has an entirely new geometry loader, where it gets the raw scene geometry vertices, polygons, etc form the Revit API and is both quicker and more accurate - so if at all possible, I would recommend using Revit 2014 if you can. If Revit 2014 is not an option, pls send me a sample scene which demonstrates the issue you are having with Revit 2012/13 and I will look into it.
