Question: Render Progress Indicator - 2 GPUs or more

Hello,

I'm running a two GPU setup right now (a Titan and a GTX780) and I noticed that if I let the render run using both GPUs and set a samples per pixel cap to let's say 20000 and then in the middle of the render I disable one of the GPUs the progress bar jumps back subtracting the samples computed bu the GPU that was disengaged from the render.

Is this just some sort of a visual glitch or is the information computed by that GPU really lost?

I'm just curious... And of course thanks in advance for any info on this :)

It's very annoying, but other than time (because renders take longer), I don't think you lose anything.

afair there once was a thread in the standalone forum mentioning that the samples calculated by a gpu that is switched off are indeed lost. the reason is most probably connected to the fact, that octane currently can't resume a render from a saved state, what'd be about the same task like combining samples currently "saved" in one gpu with the ones of another; don't ask me how then the actual combined result gets out of these samples rendered in different locations, but in the mentioned post it sounded quite logical...
