This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for ArchiCAD, build 1.27 onwards (TEST RELEASE). This version is compiled against Octane 1.27+, so see the requirements for that build regarding compatibility with your video card.

This version of the plugin runs on ArchiCAD 15, 16 and 17 - 64 bit.

Scenes saved with this build cannot be loaded with the 1.20 build, so make sure you keep a backup of the 1.20 scenes.

If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- ArchiCAD version (ArchiCAD -> Help -> License Information -> Version and Build Number
- OctaneRender for ArchiCAD version (ie. 1.02a)
- In the unlikely event of a crash, pls provide the dump report from the C:\Users\[username]\Graphisoft\BugReporting-[version] folder (on Win 7). Either post or email (to "paul at physicalc-software.com") the "ArchiCAD-XXXXXX-FATAL.RPT" file from this folder.

Change Log from release 1.20
- Compiled against Octane 1.28 - so substantial changes to the underlying plugin code
- Pin names/node names changed to be more user friendly
- Implemented texturemap projections and transforms - a huge bonus to ArchiCAD users, since that app doesn't natively support re-UV mapping
- "Export" to OCS (Octane Standalone) added to the first tab of the plugin
- All "scale" pins have been replaced with transform nodes. So you can apply different projections to texturemaps and procedural textures. Old scales from your saved scenes are not retained.
- Converting material with rotated texturemaps is not working correctly yet - but texture scales are working.
- Improved logging. Open the Cuda Log (devices tab) to see any general Octane errors and/or logging.
- Camera motion blur not implemented (unsure if anyone needs this from Rhino or not)
- If you want to rotate an IBL, set the project the Spherical and move the rotation sliders.
- It is strongly recommended that you delete your default rendertarget settings (delete C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\OctaneRender for ArchiCAD\Defaults\rendertarget.oar) and recreate them again in the plugin. This will ensure the new daylight structure is saved in your default rendertarget.

I have refreshed the above installer with:

1.27.0.2
- Compiled against Octane 1.27
- Added ArchiCAD16 build
- Fixed Cuda error resulting from the setup of proxies
- Fixed error from rendering a scene with no geometry
- Add "Slider Lock" button for scale pins

Hi Paul,

Maybe dumb question because OR Standalone is self-exe, but I am asking to bee sure:
I can install the OR Standalone 1.27 and run the Archicad plugin 1.20 without any problems?
It then picks up the Standalone 1.20 by itself?
(Or do I have to set things back after playing around with 1.27 plugin! besides reinstall plugin 1.20)

greetz,

Jeroen - doesn't matter what version of Standalone you have installed. I have 8 versions on my PC. However if you export from ArchiCAD, you need to import into the Standalone of the same version (ie. 1.27).

Hey,

I am a little bit lost with new features. Do you have any plans to update online manual? Sometimes I just don't know what I am doing :)

One problem I got with archicad plugin is that I am able to do some very nice looking renderings using livedb materials, but have a problem with my own. Especially texturing in archicad, adjusting some of them in interior renderings when detail is important. After conversion to octane scale is always messed up ( textures visible in octane are smaller than in archicad ). Adjusting it afterwards is a tiresome process and it seems that it is not existing in other plugins ( or am I wrong? ).

Being just an ordinary architect, doing renderings only from time to time I can't find the right routine in my work, probably due to my poor knowledge ;)
Maybe it is better to work in OR standalone as there is lots of tutorials available online? Could anyone share opinion about working archicad+octane plugin?

Hi Przem

Regarding the LiveDb texturemap scales - there is a setting in the Configuration where you can change how they are scaled, which might help. Also, when you have a LiveDb material setup exactly as you like it, "Export" it for later use in other scenes - that way you should build of a library of useful materials.

If it is the scales from ArchiCAD materials which are wrong - pls do a screenshot of the ArchiCAD material and the Octane material and I'll see if there is a problem there. The plugin should replicate the ArchiCAD texturemap scale exactly - so if this is not happening, there is something amiss.

If you are making materials up from scratch - you will need an understanding of what the nodes do. The Octane Standalone manual has details on this (although not the new 1.27 features), and there are some Octane Standalone tutorials (Timtam's series on Youtube). Putting the materials together in the ArchiCAD plugin is IMO slightly easier than Octane Standalone, since it only gives you the node types relevant for the pin you have selected.

With the 1.27 you can also export the Viewport from ArchiCAD into Octane Standalone, which may help you visualise how everything is fitting together.

And yes - I'll be updating the manual when everything settings down.

Hope that answers your question.

Paul

Hi Paul, after I installed the latest update I encountered the following problem
It looks like your scene is references texturemap files which do not exit. Is this happening on every scene, or just one? Have you checked to see if those files are in the locations listed in that error log?
