Heavy scenes issue

Hello,

Due to the Vram limitation it's not "possible" to render heavy scenes with many many objects (not necessarily) 4-6 V4/M4 (clothes+hair) + environment is too much for my 4GBs cards.

Is the Octane team work on this aspect or there's a tip to allow us to render heavy scenes (without a lots of work) ?

I wished there was an easy solution... apart from decreasing the texture maps an all the other tips that Paul has given through-out the forum. My only acceptable solution was to get a GTX Titan (SC)card with 6GB of VRAM... so far I haven't been able to exceed the VRAM available, though nVidia does have a limitation on the number of texture maps it can handle.

If you have that many figures, you do not need hires skin texturemaps - so simply use the Compress Texturemap script to fit them into your VRAM space.

Compress texture doesn't work, image file statistic (or even i launch the render) i still have the full texture memory used ... Not in the Scene Texture Counter.

I am not aware of any problems with the script - so if it not working, could you provide specific details pls, and I can fix the problem.

Is a bit hard to give details when all is alright, i explain:
- I load objects
- Run the script
- Select the object i want to compress
- Click on compress
- Done!
- Click on close
- I launch the scene texture counter, object compressed seems to be compressed (in the log it appears as it is)
- I launch Octane render Setup
- Click on Image file statistic
- Compressed textures have not been taken into account

There's no error :S, i don't know what's wrong.

I'm using a 680 GTX 4gbs (driver updated) / 16go RAM / I7 2k6.

You are right! I will fix this in the next release.
