Tonemapped and Linear

I am sorry for starting this again but it's really frustrating so hopefully somebody would be kind enough to explain to me why on earth is this happening.
P.S. Please, do not make go check the manual and the rest of the linear workflow articles. I did, which means there is something I dont understand or it's was poorly explained in the first place. Anyone willing to take the extra effort and explain the current issue - I will buy you a beer!

Just to sum up:
"TONEMAPPED" means a 32bit/float image with values clamped between 0 and 1. Correct?
What I ultimately want Octane to do is - render a TONEMAPPED 32 bit image (which is always in linear color space) which shows correctly in After Effects - YES, I've linearized the working space there as well cause I want all my post processing done in linear as well.
The camera imager "Response" has NOT been changed, it's left to its default.
IF instaed of "TONEMAPPED" I select "UNTONEMAPPED" everything works as expected. So.. WHY is tonemapped giving me brighter image both in the picture viewer and when imported in a linearized after effects composition.
I need consistency in the way images look in octane's live viewer, the picture viewer and after effects.
Hopefully this was thorough enough.
Thanks!
