ok bro'
got to ask - how did you set the scene so you got a ray of light?
What kind of emitter did you use?
Did you use fog too?

All the spheres are in a opact box with a hole to let the sun shine on the coulored sphères.

I put the camera behind a plane with a specular meterial with scattering.

thanks man!

just one to ask - what do you mean by "specular material with scatering"?
why did you use it and for which material attribute?

Looks like you're hitting a wall there. The specular material is used here as the participating medium.

Have a look at this little scene HERE and inspect the material settings for the fog material.

Image

As FractalBuddha said, it is applied to a plane IN FRONT of the camera. Keep your CAMERA OUTSIDE of the volume where the fog is.

Play around with the fog material parameters (scattering, absorption, scale...) and see how that affects your render.
