1500W power supply surging

A bit of background information for my question:
My 1500W Silverstone got shut down by my maximus V extreme mainboard due to power surging, because I did not add the extra power plug when using 2x gtx 580 and 1x 590.
When rendering the gpu`s power% sometimes dropped to about 20%, which caused crazy spikes because the power supply delivered the power through the ATX cable, which was too much for the 2 pins.
So when using 2 or more power hungry gpu`s, always add that extra power if your motherboard supports it. Or check with msi afterburner if power spiked happen, and check if your motherboard cable is not getting too hot when rendering
Here`s the plug:

Here`s an example of what the cable looked like burned:

The cables are modular, so I just replaced the atx 24 pins cable, and carefully removed the burned plastic from the mainboard, rendering 100% again.
NOW MY QUESTION:
I live in a relatively old house (build at about 1940): do you guys use when rendering an anti surge power socket, to deliver as stable as possbile power? (https://www.google.nl/search?q=anti+sur ... h&imgdii=_)
Greets!
