Need help: trying to make godrays

Hi guys,
I need some help here... I am trying to make godrays
In different posts I see these awsome renderings with godrays and awsome fog.
I got my hands on the fog part, but creating godrays seems only to be for the rendergods amongst us
A great example is this render form Karba.
http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... it=godrays
In the attachments you can see my setup and two results with different settings for the fog material.
I used daylight, but also a hdr texture environment... I also added a Cube as an emitter at the same place where I put my daylight sun.
I tried different combination with different kernels... but no godrays
So whatever settings I try I do not get godrays. The thing is I am trying to get result by trial and error,
but I do not know the conditions or constraints to get godrays to begin with.
Maybe I have to work on a differetn scale? This scene is human scale with the fog volume being about 100meters size (height).
Maybe I am having a setting in material or in the kernel that makes it impossible to get godrays
I need help from the rendergods to make my own rays
greetz,
PS
I will make a more simple scene witho0ut trees scattered but with trees on fixed position to have more control of the sunlight related to the tree(s) to produce godrays.
