OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

Image

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • LiveDB material is now set to current active Blender material.
  • Simple workaround of nodes arrangement in node-editor after getting them from LiveDB. Nothing complex, as this is completely the Blender node-editor's responsibility to have the "Arrange nodes" function, so I will not spend too much worktime on some more complicated things here...
  • Fixed the bug affecting RGB colors of materials taken from LiveDB.
  • Minor improvements and bug fixes...
After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

Some additional details. The material nodes from LiveDB are serialized so far as tree, not as graph structure. So, in some materials you may get some redundand nodes doubled...
It's just temporary, I will improve it in next versions.

Jim-

This is really low priority, but I found something. The following image shows the Live DB window within Blender.
Before delete...
Before delete...
If I right-click on one of the items that has an X and select Delete, the tree view goes a little crazy as per the following image. Again, very low priority, but I figured you might want to know about it.

I already wrote somewhere earlier: all the editing operations on the LiveDB materials tree are just stub for future "local database" feature.;)
Yes, when I coded the LiveDB, I've taken into account all the future things, so I've added the "in place" renaming, and context menu invocations... But it is not supposed to work at the time, I've just stubbed all these operations. As there is absolutely no sense to alter or remove some item, as after every tree refresh the state will return to the exact state of currently choosen LiveDB source (only OctaneRender LiveDB server at the time).

I found out, that an actual material/node setup will be deleted when changing the material type iE from "diffuse" to "specular" or anything else.
That means, switching between different "surface-settings" is not possible without loosing the actual material setup.

How to reproduce:
Make a new matrial. IE a diffuse.
Add a texture node to the nodesetup and connect it to Diffusechanel from the diffuse Mat (or anywhere).
Now go to the Surface-windows and change Diffuse Mat in the dropdown to specular.
Now you see, that the texture node will be automaticly deleted.
Switching back to diffuse doesnt give me the textur back.

The good way would be to be able to switch between different surface settings.

By the way: Last try using animated textures did work - just the rendered preview windows doesnt actualize by it self whil changing the frame number ... did you do something or did i make a mistake o.O :D
