Restaurant Concept WIP

Hi all,

Some work in progress shots of a restaurant we are currently designing.

Each of these (1200 x 750) images were rendered on a 3x Titan machine. Path tracing, 16000 samples, approx. 50 minutes each. Filter set to 1.0, caustic blur and hotpixel at 0.5.

I know there are many small light sources, but is there anything I can do to reduce the noise on the candles in the patio? Do I just need to let them cook longer? Is there any way to increase samples in the noisy objects alone?

best,
O

really nice images, nice spaces and good mood....
just one big problem for me : bricks around the archs are positionned horizontally, not very realistic.
(sorry for my English)

Stunning work

About the noise you could try increasing sample rate for all small light sources in the scene. This might help.

HHbomb: Ha! Very good. That is also the thing that really bothers me about these as well. Will definitely be addressing the arches in the next pass. This is an ongoing design, so there will be updates. Thanks!

MaTtY631990: Thank you very much for the kind words. I will try your suggestion. Always wanted to try that button, but haven't yet. ;^)

Hi All,

Another update to this restaurant project...2nd floor!

These are all still VERY work in progress, as there are interior design changes every hour =). I am still constantly updating furnishings, lighting, materials, perspectives, etc. The final lighting and population will also be much different from what you see currently. Hasn't hit that 'magic' place yet.

Just thought I'd share the current iteration because they are starting to look good. 1280x720, 16,000 sample path trace. 8+ million polys (and counting). Approximately 50-60 minutes each on a 3 Titan machine.

As always, comments and crits encouraged! Both in terms of quality, compositions, design, furnishings, etc...

Thanks!!

Best,
O

As far as i know theres no way to set a render stop for single objects (some may correct me if i am wrong).

My solution would be, render the image as long until you see that the problem areas appear.
Then you render an objectmask pass for the objects or areas that have much noise in it and take very long time to get clean.
Then bring the beautypass and the objectmask into any composition software (the objectmask works as alphamask)
and use a noise reduction tool like neatvideo, or else,
on only the noised parts of the image. I often do this with vray layers, if theres some noise i just cant get rid off or only can get controll of it with
ultra high quality settings.

To use this for lights you can create some soft mask around the problem area and use a denoiser on that.

It might not work for any situation but i can help reduce rendertimes and increase quality of the image.

Hope this helps a bit.

This is looking absolutely terrific. Your materials and texturing are excellent.

I know you are still working on the images and design, but one crit I have is the brick is looking very flat. Unfortunately, Octane can't do displacement right now. And it could just be that a light isn't hitting it in a way to show off the bump well enough. If your native modeling package has a displacement tool that will work with Octane, you could give that a try, just a thought.

Are you doing the interior design as well, or just the renderings? The design is very cool, I love the mood and eclectic approach, I'd definitly want to hang out in this place! I can't wait to see the finals of this project, very inspiring!
