Demo Version grain free - Purchased not ?

I'm a brand new customer. After a very convincing demo version 1.20 I purchased the version 1.20a today. The test scene I created for the demo version 1.20 is now very grainy under the purchased version 1.20a when using an hdri.
This was the demo that rendered smooth: OctaneRender_demo_1_20_win64.exe
This is what I purchased today and renders grainy: OctaneRender_1_20a_win64.exe
I am using Windows 7 and 3ds max 2012 64bit.
The amount of bright "snow pixels" increase the longer I wait.
Also the entire "Imager" rollout doesn't work anymore. No difference no matter which values I put in.
It can easily be that I missed something as I am very new to this engine.
Any clues what I am doing wrong?
Thanks
Andre

This might be unlikely but you can check to see if the importance sampling option is switched on under 1.20a. With this turned off your renders could take longer. Also let me understand, changing exposure, ISO etc has no effect on your render. Also no idea what is effecting the imager, but I would try the option of keeping the demo and the commercial version on and compare them if necessary might be best way to see what settings are different. If it does not work then do a clean install with the commercial version.
Thanks
Matt

Thanks for the reply!
I rebooted my machine and now the Imager parameters work but I still have the grain which wasn't there in the demo version. I want to use Octane in 3ds max only, not the standalone. It also seems to be that the entire "Post Processing" rollout is not in the UI anymore? It certainly was in the demo version. I'm getting a bit confused here.
The demo version dlls in the 3ds max folder were overwritten by the purchased version.
I don't have the setting "importance sampling" in the 3ds max UI.
And where do I get the Max2Octane Script? The Manual just assumes you have it but doesn't tell me where to find it. It wasn;t included in the downloads.

I'm getting a bit confused and the manual doesn't cover the UI inside 3ds max if I saw this correctly.

What do you mean "star filter"? May be
post processing?
importance sampling is an option of
octane environment texture

Oh sorry I was just in the process of editing my last reply when you started replying. I meant the Post Processing rollout. Star filter was just a wrong term I wrongfully remembered. Glare Ray was the right term.

Hmm I am slowly getting a bit frustrated :-/ After 3 hours I still wasn't able to find the max2octane script download which imo should have been included in the installation package. And with the post processing rollout gone I have a render engine that can't do in 3ds max what the demo can do which led to the purchase. I never wanted to use the standalone (which now I semm to have to with the post processing rollout gone), I want to stay in 3ds max.
Maybe it's still my user error which I know is the most common issue when I did support for another render engine for several years.

Could you show your octane render settings?

Here is a snapshot showing my available render parameters as well as the type of grain I am getting.

Ups, that is my fault.

Here's a snapshot I made two days ago with my cel phone that shows how it looked before.
